It’s Our Choice

Hello! As I meditate on where I am, where I’m going, and where i’ve been, I realize that life is all about choices! So where does worship fit into this? As a reminder, I must choose to worship God no matter how I feel or what my circumstances are. Spending time in worship is a decision that I have to make and this decision starts in my soul, where my emotions, mind, and will resides.

So the next time you’re angry, hurt, overwhelmed, etc.,make a decision to push through the natural facts and just worship! There is always something good on the other side of worship!

Knowing When to Push

2019 will definitely be a year where new things will spring forth, many will walk into the path of destiny, and so many will give birth to what they have carried in the bosom of their spirit in earlier seasons.  Not only has the Lord spoken this to my heart, but I have heard many other men and women of God sharing this same prophetic declaration!

While this is exciting news, I want to caution us to continue in a focused place. Why? Because the Holy Spirit is teaching us that the birthing position is a very serious one! We have to know how to endure the pain that takes place right before the baby comes forth! No worries though. For most of us, there is just one last,  long hard push left!  Hallelujah!

Ask Holy Spirit to grace you to know when to breathe and when to take that last push in this new season!

Blessings!

Its Over!

Praise the Lord!  It is always great to receive a refreshing from the Lord.  One thing that I am learning is that God will speak to us “comfortably” and “tenderly” when we are in extreme warfare OR when we are in a reaping season of discomfort, difficulty, hard trials, etc.  He speaks peace and blessings as if the warfare has already past by.

Yesterday during the fourth watch (between 3 & 6 a.m.), a snippet of a scripture was brought to my remembrance as I worshipped and interceded for my family.  The reference came from Isaiah 40:2:

“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned. Yes, the LORD has punished her twice over for all her sins.” NLT

I knew from this that some of the trials we face are a direct result of past sin, choices, and disobedience.  I also know that it is almost over!  When one season ends, a new one begins.  What about you?  Can you press through the present trial that you find yourself in only to see a glorious future of blessings and greatness as you walk into your destiny?  When the prophet spoke these comforting words to Jerusalem they were still in captivity!  The words came forth as if they were already released!  Think about it.  Your sad days are gone and you are about to see with your eyes the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!  Keep waiting, hoping, and trusting.

When Life Spins out of Control!

Do the circumstances of your life seem to be spinning way out of control?  Chaos, darkness, loss of peace, confusion, etc.?  Well it’s no secret.  Life is filled with overwhelming challenges!  I call it “raw” life!  Take heart though, think of El Elyon (the Most High God).  This is one of the Names of God that comes to mind when I visually see the tidal wave of chaotic things in my life right now.  This Name describes that part of God that is in total control of this universe!  He is the Almighty Creator and nothing or no one can take Him by storm!  God is in control and will perform His word in your life.  Rest in Him!

A Recipe for Success

This morning upon waking and snoozing and waking again, and dreaming and awakening again, I began to think of all the overwhelming responsibilities and activities on my plate.  Immediately the Holy Spirit interrupted my thoughts with a portion of this scripture from Proverbs 16:3:

Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.

I soon got out of bed and read this verse over and over and began to declare and decree the success of every plan because I intentionally committed my works to God’s Hand. I also asked that He grace me to know His will and timing.  This is a true recipe for success in all that we are doing and plan to do for the Kingdom of God.  It is easy to get overwhelmed but when we take the time to trust God to keep His word after we have truly given these works over to Him, we can make it.  We do not have to be swamped and overwhelmed.  But how?  This is the famous question that I often ask the Holy Spirit when He tells me something.  I realize that the answer most times is a progressive learning process.  In order for our plans in ministry or any other area to succeed, we have got to cast our cares (worries and anxieties) on the Lord as well as believe that God is working alongside us.  We do this through meditation, prayer, and worship on a daily basis.  We keep our mind renewed so that the activity itself will not drain us and take our joy!

Thanks for reading.  Remember to enjoy your journey.  Roll those works on the Lord and keep your mind free from the clutter of worry, doubt, fear, and any other hindering thoughts from the enemy.

Love,

Minister Denise Cook-Godfrey

The Dance from Heaven

Yesterday I heard tthe Spirit say,  “choreography that originates from heaven and also music that originates ffrom heaven!”  I was in awe!  May we all as praise dancers, worship dancers mime ministries, expressive signers,  etc,  be reminded that we must spend intimate quality time in the presence of our Lord before choosing our choreography and music for the ministry! We must simply ask and invite Holy Spirit into our prep time so that He whispers into our ear what Heaven has spoken ! (John 16:13)

What Do You Want?

Do you dance in the secret place?  As a worship dancer, this is extremely important!  Minister to the Father in your secret closet long before engaging an audience. The worship dance is different from the praise dance in that your dance is always for the audience of ONE! The onlookers should at some point cease watching your choreography and begin to engage the heavens for themselves.

So….what do you want out of dance ministry?  It is important to speak it!  Not only your own desire but do you know God’s desire for not only the dance ministry but any type of ministry and your purpose in general?  Watch this video that I made during a brief moment of meditating into deep thought regarding the passions that burn in my heart.  Passions and desires that God gives BURN!  You cannot afford to ignore them or put the fire out!

Deeper Worship Choreography is back!

Hello to all of my Beautiful Worship dancers.  I have a question for you:  “from whence do you choreograph your pieces for worship dance?”  Sounds a little odd doesn’t it?  Well, this is a question that I heard from deep within my spirit just a couple of weeks ago.  It is crucial that we understand the place from where to begin and end our choreography.  Even if you do not primarily choreograph your own pieces, it is still important to have foundational knowledge of this.

The question prompted me to be resurrected in some ways.  See, I have been involved in dance ministry for a lot of years.  Recently I began to notice a decline in my passion!  This is something that I thought would never happen to me but this prompting, along with another tremendous door of opportunity that the Lord has recently opened for me has sure re-kindled my passion and desire for the worship ministry like never before.

To celebrate this re-kindled fire, I am launching a new online worship dance course.  The course is for 4 weeks and will cover some basic Biblical studies of dance and choreography dynamics.  There will also be interactive activities at the end of each lesson that will give the student a chance to put what they learn in each lesson to work within their own ministries!  I am excited to offer this course.  If you are interested, please reply in the comments or contact me via email at dcookgodfrey@gmail.com.  Enter “Online Course” in the subject line.

Why Do You Dance?

The month of May is filled with times of celebration and completion on so many levels!  It is indeed a busy month.  I typically give my Youth dancers a summer break from dance ministry during the months of June and July; however, I do make myself available for dance mentoring!  Summer is a great time to block off time for the biblical study of dance and to brush up on choreography tips for the next season.  God has been dealing with me concerning preparation.  Be sure to invest in your dance ministry by studying to show yourselves approved as workmen understanding how to rightly divide God’s word concerning the dance.  It is well worth your time and energy to study as well as maintain the physical aspect of your dance ministry.
