Its Over!

Praise the Lord!  It is always great to receive a refreshing from the Lord.  One thing that I am learning is that God will speak to us “comfortably” and “tenderly” when we are in extreme warfare OR when we are in a reaping season of discomfort, difficulty, hard trials, etc.  He speaks peace and blessings as if the warfare has already past by.

Yesterday during the fourth watch (between 3 & 6 a.m.), a snippet of a scripture was brought to my remembrance as I worshipped and interceded for my family.  The reference came from Isaiah 40:2:

“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned. Yes, the LORD has punished her twice over for all her sins.” NLT

I knew from this that some of the trials we face are a direct result of past sin, choices, and disobedience.  I also know that it is almost over!  When one season ends, a new one begins.  What about you?  Can you press through the present trial that you find yourself in only to see a glorious future of blessings and greatness as you walk into your destiny?  When the prophet spoke these comforting words to Jerusalem they were still in captivity!  The words came forth as if they were already released!  Think about it.  Your sad days are gone and you are about to see with your eyes the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!  Keep waiting, hoping, and trusting.

What Do You Want?

Do you dance in the secret place?  As a worship dancer, this is extremely important!  Minister to the Father in your secret closet long before engaging an audience. The worship dance is different from the praise dance in that your dance is always for the audience of ONE! The onlookers should at some point cease watching your choreography and begin to engage the heavens for themselves.

So….what do you want out of dance ministry?  It is important to speak it!  Not only your own desire but do you know God’s desire for not only the dance ministry but any type of ministry and your purpose in general?  Watch this video that I made during a brief moment of meditating into deep thought regarding the passions that burn in my heart.  Passions and desires that God gives BURN!  You cannot afford to ignore them or put the fire out!

Why Do You Dance?

The month of May is filled with times of celebration and completion on so many levels!  It is indeed a busy month.  I typically give my Youth dancers a summer break from dance ministry during the months of June and July; however, I do make myself available for dance mentoring!  Summer is a great time to block off time for the biblical study of dance and to brush up on choreography tips for the next season.  God has been dealing with me concerning preparation.  Be sure to invest in your dance ministry by studying to show yourselves approved as workmen understanding how to rightly divide God’s word concerning the dance.  It is well worth your time and energy to study as well as maintain the physical aspect of your dance ministry.

Give Me You!

“Give me You….everything else can wait!”  This is a song by Shana Wilson.  I love it!  It speaks volumes.  I am wondering how awesome our knowledge and revelation of running our busy lives, ministries, and businesses would be if we incorporated time where we put everything else to the side, and just cried out for God’s presence?!  Wow…..this is a great reminder for me.  When we practice meditating in the presence of God for purposes of worship to Him, then yes, we can afford to let everything else WAIT!  Once we do this as a culture and a lifestyle, then it will become easier and easier to know how to do what we do, because we have pieces of Him as the residue from quality time spent on our knees crying out and worshipping Him.  Remember, everything that you need is in His presence!

Wait For Your Wealthy Place!

Wait for Your Wealthy Place!

Wow, the title of this article is so rich! No pun intended! The title actually comes from Psalms 66:11-12. When we fix our heart on these verses, we see that life sometimes comes with great distress, discomfort, and anguish of soul. God allows this. He is the one that the Psalmist says is responsible for “bringing us into the net” of the fire and water of trials. Yes, it’s true. God allows suffering and it always works together for our good. The wealthy place is mentioned, but let’s be careful and not expect that to be materialistic all the time. Sometimes our wealthy place is a place of grace, satisfaction, and an abundance of peace! This inner peace during trials is surely something that money will never be able to buy. So if you are in the wilderness of fire and water right now, pray for God to lead you out to your very own “wealthy place!” Do not miss out on it by entertaining preconceived notions that this is a place of something materialistic. Remember Paul’s thorn! God’s grace was sufficient then and it is today as well.

There is Always Someone Who Wants What Belongs to You!

Make sure that no one is immoral or godless like Esau, who traded his birthright as the firstborn son for a single meal. (Hebrews 12:16 NLT)

The word of God declares that we are to bless the Lord from very core of our soul and to not forget ALL His wonderful benefits. Sometimes as an Author, Psalmist, Play-Writer, Entrepreneur we tend to take for granted that there are precious treasures deposited deep on the inside of us and that we are overshadowed with the favor of God! Too many times God’s favor and the blessings can become “common”, so to speak. We become especially vulnerable from this standpoint of forgetting when we hit those times when things are not moving or manifesting as we seem to think they should.

In the passage of scripture above, we see the writer of Hebrews referring to Esau’s carelessness of what belonged to him rightfully! Poor old Esau did not know a good thing when he saw it. By law, he stood to inherit the family birthright and blessing. Esau did not regard it as precious. He took it for granted! Let’s not take for granted our birthright. We have inherited a blessing by grace through faith. We have been adopted into the royal family of God!

Entrepreneurs, Authors, Psalmists, Dancers, etc. know that someone will always have their eye on what you possess. Sometimes someone else can see more clearly in the favor of God on your life than you can! Look at what Jacob did! He cheated his brother out of the birthright because Jacob really knew the value of it, while Esau carelessly let it go for a meal! Later, Esau wept bitterly for what he had lost but it was too late.

God has dealt with my heart a couple of times about this very thing through two different dreams. In each dream, there was a lost purse involved. In the first dream, I never found my purse but in the second one, I did; however, the purse was found sitting in a corner on the floor. The purse or wallet in a dream typically represents favor. God was prompting me not to take for granted all the wealth of treasures deposited on the inside of me! I took heed. Never again will I allow the enemy to trick me into false humility or being fearful to step out and work the gifts He has bestowed upon me! What about you? Have you ever been cheated out of an opportunity because you were inferior, fearful, or just careless? Remember, there is always someone who wants what you have! Guard the favor of God on your life as if your life depends on it because it really does!

When the Thrill is Gone

So….what happens when the “thrill is gone” from your song and dance???  Its funny how those old fashioned blues songs that your Dad listened to when you were a child always has a way of creeping back into your head.  The “Thrill is gone” is the title of one of those blues songs that I remember hearing as a child; however, I do not quite remember the rest of the lyrics nor the Artist.  So, what are we actually talking about here in relation to the praise dance?  Have you ever experienced those times when you completely lose your fire and desire for the song that the Lord gave you five or six weeks ago?  You have choreographed, you have listened to the song over and over again, you have practiced and prepared but now…..the fire and passion that you had when the Lord first gave you the idea for ministry seems to have faded away.  You may not even like the song anymore!  What are we to do in this instance.  Well, I have experienced this a number of times.  As I thought on this just today, the Lord reminded me of some profound truths that I would like to share:

  • First, pray and ask our Father to take you back to the place where you first received the inspiration and to rekindle that fire and passion that you had at first.
  • Next, it is a good idea to revisit the song’s narrative and meaning.  Look up a couple of scripture references that speak to the meaning of the song.  Meditate on the verses of scripture in order to stimulate your faith and regain your focus.  You may have already meditated on verses at the onset so just go back to these verses if that is the case.
  • Change your mindset!  Realize that if God truly gave you the command to minister this particular song, then He has not changed His mind!  Realize that it is never about us and what we like.  It is always about His purpose, plan and intent for the song and the ministry.
  • Finally, know who you are ministering to.  Minister to the Lord in worship and by faith, minister to His people after you have spent that extra time ministering to Him!  It is not about what we do but about who we be!  We are His children.  We walk by faith and not by sight.  We minister in dance by faith and not by feelings.

Warning: Detour Ahead

I’m reminded that although some of us have received awesome promises from the Lord concerning the blessings and transformations that are to take place this year.  For several of us, the wait is simply over, and we are advancing toward our “due season”.  However, this does not mean that there will not be mountains, rivers, and other DETOURS on our way into our promised land.  The enemy is already hitting below the belt.  He will not play fair (as if he ever did anyway!).

Hold fast to the word of God.  You will make it to the other side THIS YEAR!  Don’t faint along the way.  One verse that is giving me hope this morning is this:

The LORD is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him. (Nahum 1:7 NLT)

Yes, the Lord is close to us.  He is near to us and very intimate with us as we draw near to Him during the difficult detours that we are probably facing now and in the near future.  Rest confidently in His word and know that His word will come to pass for you this year!
